J and M + j + s: Uncle Duspin

A few weeks ago my sister got married to her long time boyfriend Dustin. When we visited them in Atlanta a few months ago before Sam was born, Josh called him Duspin and we think that's a better name :-)

Both Josh and I had roles in the wedding. I was a groomsman and Josh was the ring bearer (although Margaret made sure he didn't actually carry the real rings). The wedding was in Nashville and we'll have another post about traveling with the two boys. We arrived on Thursday and had to pick up our tuxedos from Mens Wearhouse. A few weeks earlier Josh got measured locally for his tuxedo and he was really well behaved. He really liked trying on the clothes and listened when told to put his arms up so he could be measured. He did get a bit upset when they only had one shoe for him to try on. So we hoped when we went to pickup and try on the clothes he would enjoy it. Unfortunately he hadn't napped all day and wasn't in a good mood. The tux for Josh did not fit well because he is in the smallest size, so they had to make adjustments which took longer.

The rehearsal dinner on Friday night was adults only, so Heather stayed with the boys while Margaret and I went out. Before we left Josh was upset we were leaving, but Margaret promised that when we left he could have a donut. When the door closed after us, he demanded his donut :-) He was a good boy for Heather, and Sam took his bottles and went to bed easily. This was the first time someone else put Sam to bed, so we weren't sure how it would go.

Saturday morning was the rehearsal and Josh was not doing too well. He had a bit of a fever the day before but it was higher on Saturday. Josh refused to walk down the aisle during the rehearsal and had to be carried by Margaret. It was already in the plan for Margaret to walk down the aisle with Josh but we were hoping he would walk as well.

After the rehearsal we got Josh to nap and got ready for the wedding. We gave Josh Advil to get his fever down a bit. When he got to the wedding site he refused to get dressed. After much convincing we got him dressed and then he really started to perk up. He loved running around in his shoes and hearing the noise it made on the floors. He also loved seeing himself in the mirror all dressed up.

While everyone else was getting ready, Margaret took Josh down the aisle again for another mini rehearsal. She showed Josh what it would look like with chairs, and where they would be sitting. Margaret told Josh that when they got down the aisle there would be gummies and the train game on the iPad. He got very excited about these things, so we were hopeful.

During the ceremony he did a great job and made it down the aisle! He did stop initially to watch the musicians play their instruments but otherwise he did a great job. As soon as Josh got down the aisle he demanded his gummies, and then played on the iPad for the whole ceremony.

After the ceremony we did some pictures and then Margaret took Josh back to the house we were staying in. She came back to the wedding and we had a great time. It was nice to have Josh be part of the ceremony and then nice to be able to party on our own :-)

The wedding was great and Josh was extremely well behaved. We're very happy for Josh and Sam to have a new uncle Duspin :-)
