After our 2 week appointment showed weight loss, we met with a Lactation Consultant (Dawn from Bethesda Breastfeeding). She was really helpful and gave us confidence that we were actually doing everything right, but that Josh needed to learn how to eat. After a discouraging week, we decided to have a second visit with Dawn. She just left and gave us new marching orders. For at least the next day and probably two Josh is going to spend all day on Margaret. The consultant believes Josh is too used to getting breast milk from a bottle for supplements and that is preventing him from eating from the breast. So for the next day or so Josh will be living at the restaurant and able to eat whenever he wants.
I had hoped the consultant would give us a new plan that would allow us to have more time between feedings but we've gotten the opposite. Oh well, I guess we will just catch up on the shows we've been missing.
Hopefully after this Josh will be eating better and we can get him on a better schedule.
Josh looks just like you Julian in this picture! I hope Josh enjoyed the Margaret buffet and is doing better. We totally know the pain you are going through and hope that it gets better for you all soon.
